“Short Poem” —

How do I open this poem
enough to be able to really
talk to you? Too much,
and it’s not really a poem
anymore. And look. Once,
I was alone and afraid.
And so were you.

And the reasons why
don’t really matter
that much, anymore.
Only that we were those things.
And it doesn’t matter…
